Lydia Thompson, LCSW

Clinical Supervisor

After receiving her MSW at Columbia University, Lydia spent nine wonderful and rewarding years in community mental health across: nonprofit, correctional, and hospital settings. She focused on safety planning, crisis counseling, and short-term clinical interventions using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. During that time, she learned the importance of building rapport and "planting the seed" as the foundation of any therapeutic alliance.

In 2021, Lydia entered private practice full-time, shifting her focus to long-term psychotherapy. In addition to her CBT and DBT-based work, she's received additional training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and both Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. She is excited to add further tools to her repertoire as time goes on!

Lydia loves connecting with emerging clinicians of all backgrounds, and believes that targeted clinical guidance, warmth, and humor are equally essential to the supervisory relationship. She has worked as an administrative supervisor in community mental health and has provided clinical supervision since entering private practice. She find this work to be an ideal complement to time spent with her own clients.
