Adolescent Therapy
Teens deserve a clinician that they can feel comfortable with, not just the next available one. Adolescence is one of the most transformative and challenging seasons of life. Our clinicians provide online therapy for teens navigating the pressures of school and performance, identity and self-esteem, peer relationships, behavioral challenges, life changes, and the journey of understanding who they are, including sexual identity and orientation. We create a space where young people feel genuinely seen and heard, without judgment, and we tailor our approaches to each adolescent.
Who We Work With
Some teens come to us feeling anxious or overwhelmed by school pressure and performance expectations. Others are navigating friendships or peer conflicts, questions about identity or self esteem, or family dynamics that feel hard to talk about at home. We work with teens who appear to be doing well on the outside but are carrying more than people around them realize.
They may be high-achieving students, perfectionists, people-pleasers, or teens who have gotten used to keeping their feelings to themselves. Sometimes the signs are subtle: withdrawing from the family, becoming increasingly overwhelmed, having difficulty sleeping, losing interest in previous hobbies, or feeling like they have to keep performing for everyone else.

Sometimes, the teen isn't the one asking for therapy in the first place. Sometimes parents may notice a change in the kid they once knew so well and find that they aren't sure what is happening or how to help. Therapy can provide a space for adolescents to develop their own voice, understand what they're experiencing, and build tools for managing challenges with greater confidence.
What Sessions Look Like
Sessions with teens can look a little different than an adult individual session. The first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know your teen and understand what is bringing them to therapy. Part of this conversation may include talking through what's going on at school, any current concerns, relationships, perceived strengths and weaknesses or areas to work on.
Depending on the circumstances, a clinician may speak with a parent or guardian as part of the initial intake process. Just as importantly, time will be spent creating a dedicated space for the adolescent to delve into what is happening in their life without judgment. Your teen's autonomy will be respects and they will have a sense of ownership over their therapeutic process.

Trust is an integral part of any therapeutic relationship, this is especially true when it comes to working with adolescents. Sessions will be focus on establishing trust so that your teen can feel comfortable being themselves. Treatment goals will be developed collaboratively and may evolve as the therapeutic needs change.

We build trust with your teen first, at their pace. That often means taking a different approach than traditional clinical structure so the space feels less like being evaluated and more like being understood.
We keep the adolescent's autonomy central while staying connected to family context when appropriate. This is therapy that respects that teens are already forming their own identity, not just receiving guidance passively.
Getting Started
Adolescent therapy sessions are conducted entirely via secure online therapy, making it easier for teens to fit sessions around school and extracurricular schedules. Sessions are typically held weekly, although frequency may vary depending on individual needs and therapeutic goals. If you're not sure whether therapy is the right next step for your adolescent, or you're simply not sure where to start, contact us and we'll help you figure it out.
